Truckin', Travelin' and Sightseein' were the plans for Jim & John today. Leaving White City, Oregon this morning we traveled north on I-5 to Tualatin, Oregon (just outside Portland, OR). After setting up basecamp we jumped in Magellan II and headed for Historic Columbia River Highway. This highway was begun in 1913 and was considered one of the greatest engineering feats of the modern age. Samuel C. Lancaster, the engineer, worked diligently to not mar what God had put there, while showcasing the many beautiful waterfalls, and scenic spots along the highway through the Columbia River Gorge. The Historic Columbia River Highway is the first scenic highway in the United States and is a National Historic Landmark. Come along with us as we share our visual experience along this Historic Highway. It's no wonder that this byway has been called, "King of Roads."
(Apologies for the hazy quality of pictures...but IT WAS AN OVERCAST & HAZY DAY!)
