Another glorious day of sight seeing! Today we visited our 4th National Monument (Cedar Breaks NM) and two areas of Zion National Park. (Kolob Canyon and the Virgin River Gorge.) Cedar Breaks National Monument is a spectacular amphitheater according to FDR in 1933 when he made it a National Monument. The area above the rim is covered with beautiful, colorful wild flowers. It was only 58 degrees F. there at oour elevation over 10,000 feet above sea level. The next stop was considerably lower at around 6,000 feet and 82 degrees F. The sandstone canyons were incredible. Finally we traveled by NP shuttle bus in over 100 degree heat through our 7th National Park, Zion Canyon. The North Fork of the Virgin River runs through Zion Canyon with shear rock walls over 3,000 feet above the river. This, as with all the canyons, is an ever-changing landscape due the forces of wind, weather, and water.
