What an exciting day we had today.  After settling in at Scott AFB last night, we prepared for our first adventure.  Heading to St. Louis we quickly saw the shining 660 foot Gateway Arch.  After submitting to a security exam, we both avoided the cavity search.  The NP rangers then welcomed us to the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial and museum (aka the Gateway Arch).  Securing our tickets for the 3 major events put us on a whirlwind schedule to see EVERYTHING there.  (Of course there were potty & snack breaks squeezed in.)  We first viewed the movie on the design & construction of this amazing National Monument. (Yes we got all our "Passport" books stamped, not once but twice!)  Running across to the Imax theater took us on the great journey west, with Lewis & Clark and the remarkable help of Sacagawea.   Our quick trip to the top of the arch was a "moving" adventure....as the arch really swayed in the wind and gave us tremendous views of the local area.  Finally, we explored the timeline of westward expansion in the museum.  Rangers readily assisted us with information on everything in the museum including the Lewis & Clark exhibit, and the one-of-a-kind Peace Medal exhibit.  This first trip has truly inspired us to explore all that we can about the west.  We completed the night with "homework" as we did our laundry, cleaned the bugs from Megallan's face, waxed her nose,  and made our plans and reservations at camps for the next two nights.  On to the Tall Grass Prairie, Harry S. Truman National Historic Site, and more.  Kansas or Bust!
