3. When driving Magellen UP steep mountains, SLOW down and get in a lower gear so you can keep the engine RPM's up to avoid overheating. Magellen doesn't like that. 4. When Magellen does overheat, pull off to the side of the road, set the park brake, shift to neutral and rev the engine to 2000 RPM's until the temperature drops to 190 degrees F and alll alarms (buzzers & sirens) stop hurting your ears! 5. Not letting your 100 gallon fuel tank drop below 3/4 prevents running out of fuel in the desert...and gives you the illusion that it only cost you $100 to FILL the tank. (It also allows for frequent Captain Potty Breaks.) 6. Why aren't the large electric generating windmills turning, when the wind makes Magellan change lanes without moving the steering wheel. And NOT finally, I'm sure, 7. Jake Brakes are your friend...especially heading DOWN a steep mountain road.
Here are a few pictures that we took from Magellan as she rolled along the 383 miles today!
The fault line in San Rafael Valley, Utah.
"Ship" rock formation acording to Jim & John, in Utah.
Red rocks strata well-known in the Utah desert.
The cut in San Rafael Swell.
Westside of the Snake Range in Nevada.
Please note that these BIG windmills are NOT turning...yet Magellan is being blown across the road.
Now you two can have second careers as cross country truck drivers...just saying. :)
ReplyDeleteMaybe those windmills were some that Obama bought. He seems to have real good luck with alternative energy.
