Monday, February 18th, 2013....Presidents' Day!!
Today our adventure started with a hiccup. Susan, Jim & I had our picnic packed, maps and gear ready for a junket to the Everglades National Park, Shark Valley area. However, little did we know that the entire population of Broward and Dade County had the VERY SAME PLAN!! We made it up HWY 41 TOWARD Shark Valley...but about a mile from the entrance we started seeing cars, vans, trucks and RV's parked along the highway...with people flooding toward the entrance on foot. So we quickly adopted PLAN B....Jim made a U'y (highly recommended in Florida!!) and headed toward the amazing Royal Palm/Flamingo area of the Everglades National Park. And this turned out to be a bit of great fortune! Much less crowded....wildlife and flora abounding, and an amazing day of hiking and exploration in the Everglades National Park!

Pictures coming soon...having difficulty with internet at Marathon Key, Florida.
